LIBRARY ORGANIZATION AND USE

When donating a book:

·            If you wish, write your name in the book as the donor.

·            If giving the book In Memory Of someone, write a note in the book to that effect.

·            Give the book to the Columbia Bridge Club’s librarian or to someone designated to serve in that position temporarily.  DO NOT just put the book on the shelf; it needs to be added to the library inventory.

To keep books in usable order and available for others:

·            To check out a book, use CHECK OUT SLIPS provided to write book title and author, your full name, and the current date.

·            Place slip in box labeled CHECK OUT SLIPS, which is kept at the Director’s desk.

·            Return book(s) to box labeled RETURN BOOKS HERE.

·            Limit check out of any book to 3 weeks from date checked out.  Leave book on shelf for a week to give others a chance to use the book before you check it out again.

·            The latest edition of a Reference book, such as Official Encyclopedia of Bridge, should NOT be checked out.  Previous editions may be checked out.

Shelving arrangements:

·            Books are arranged in alphabetical order by author’s last name.

·            Multiple titles by one author are arranged alphabetically by title in the author’s position on the shelf.

·            Editions of the Bridge Bulletin may be checked out as needed, preferably for no longer than 1 week.

·            Materials that are less substantial than a book but are still of interest are in a pamphlet box.  (These titles are generally part of the Library’s inventory, so check them out as you would a book.)
